The Book of Exodus
The Jewish people have never had it easy, and that especially goes for how difficult it was for them to become a nation, as seen in the book of Exodus. Theologian Donald Grey Barnhouse was right when he once stated that Egypt at that time was “the greatest symbol of Satan’s enmity against the children of Israel. The devil was in Egypt and ruling Egypt. Behind Pharaoh there was Satan. Thus, Exodus was not simply an epic struggle between Moses and Pharaoh or between Israel and Egypt. Ultimately it was another skirmish in the great, ongoing war between God and Satan.” That being the case, in our study of Exodus we can expect to spot plenty of parallels with how God redeemed Israel and made them His holy people back then and how God has redeemed us today and made us to be a holy people before Him.
